Proctoring System

The proctoring system at ACE is implemented to continuously monitor and direct students, ensuring their overall development. A subtle degree of enforcing discipline is blended with emotional bonding between the student and faculty supervisor, from orientation all the way to farewell.

Hierarchy of Proctoring

Proctoring Organisational Chart

Methodology

Every student is associated with a faculty member who acts as a supervisor โ€” the first point of contact for any issue that might hinder the student’s development. The supervisor speaks and acts for the student while also overseeing their conduct, behaviour, and performance.

How Proctoring Works

1

Upon admission, every student is required to fill a proctorial form.

2

The departmental committee and proctorial board allot a faculty member to each student.

3

The student is required to meet the proctor once a month as a regular practice. This meeting shall be initiated by the faculty supervisor.

4

The student is expected to share comforts, conveniences, and difficulties with the supervisor. The supervisor should create a conducive environment that encourages open discussion of academic as well as personal issues, including the impact of socio-economic background on the learning process.

5

The supervisor provides a proper, simple, and practical solution either independently or in collaboration with colleagues.

6

The gist of every meeting is recorded in the proctorial form and signed by both the faculty member and the student.

7

Before discussing new issues, the matters discussed in previous meetings are reviewed.

8

Critical issues are brought to the notice of the proctorial board and, if necessary, a meeting is convened to resolve them at the earliest possible time.

9

The proctor encourages the student to set targets and work towards achieving them.

Mentoring Program

Four years of engineering college demands social skills that many students lack. Faculty are required to impart communication, leadership, trust, decision-making, and conflict management skills โ€” motivating students to excel in their professional and personal lives.

Objectives of Mentoring

Work towards achieving the triple-objective of technical goal achievement, time management, and team management.
Motivate, empower, and encourage students through various resources.
Challenge students to become positive decision-makers.
Help facilitate the process of shaping students into successful and responsible young adults.
Help increase the achievement levels of students in all aspects.
Create a positive impact on students’ lives physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Assist students in receiving support and guidance from a mentor.
Improve the academic performance of mentees.
Improve interpersonal relationships between peers, teachers, family members, and other adults.
Teach life skills such as sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and discipline.
Help students identify their varied interests, evaluate them with discretion, prioritize them, and develop the skills required to pursue them successfully.
Organize formal mentor meetings with mentees on a regular and periodic basis to help students perform better in life.
Guide students to integrate technical and personal goals with skill acquisition while promoting active and cooperative learning.
Help improve generic attributes such as communication skills, teamwork, and project management.
Nurture confidence in students and enable them to apply engineering competencies, solve problems from first principles, and work effectively in teams.
Help students acquire time management and team management skills through experiential learning.
